University Wide Degree Requirements
Complete a University Success course during the first semester of enrollment if entering APSU with fewer than 12 credits earned in a regionally accredited college or university setting. Transfer students and non-traditional students, while not required, are encouraged to also complete a University Success course. Courses which may be utilized to complete this requirement are:
UNIV 1000 - University Success
UNIV 1010 - University Success and Foundations of Learning
UNIV 1200 - University Success for Transfer Studies
HON 1000 - University Success
PELP 1000 - Freshman Seminar
APSU students must demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing, and mathematics either prior to enrollment or during their initial terms of enrollment. Proficiency may be demonstrated by one of the following options:
Pre-Enrollment Proficiency: Students may demonstrate proficiency during the admission process using multiple measures, including:
High School GPA
ACT or SAT Subscores
AP, CLEP, or IB credit in each proficiency area
Prior College Credit in each proficiency area
Accuplacer or APSU University Testing
Post-Enrollment Proficiency: Students who do not establish proficiency during admission must enroll in designated courses or labs during initial terms of enrollment to support success in reading, writing, and mathematics intensive coursework
